The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen #BookReview #PanMacmillan #NetGalley #5*

The Golden Couple is an addictive page-turning psychological thriller from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, the authors of the bestselling The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl, that will keep you guessing to the very end.

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple . . . until Marissa cheats.

In a desperate attempt to repair her family, Marissa takes a chance on maverick therapist Avery Chambers, who lost her licence due to controversial methods.

If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in ten sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. She helps people overcome everything, from domineering parents to assault. Her successes almost help her absorb the emptiness she feels since her husband’s death.

When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course they never expected. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

Not all of them are who they seem, and matters are about to turn deadly…

Absolutely Gripping!

Everything I hope for in a novel .. and a little bit more!

Marissa and Martin Bishop have, to outsiders, a perfect life with a beautiful home and a much-loved son. Only Marissa knows that she cheated but she can’t keep it from Martin and seeks help from therapist Avery Chambers whose process is not of the usual variety. Avery picks and chooses her clients carefully; since losing her license she can employ more of a maverick approach. Accepting the Bishops as her clients gives Marissa hope that their marriage will soon be back on track but even while ‘baring all’, there are secrets being kept . . .

I first came across these authors when I read their first novel, The Wife Between Us, and was completely bowled over by it so was just a tad excited to have their new one on my list. I’m not a duplicitous person, valuing integrity and honesty but my first thought – and I don’t think I’ll be alone in this – was why did she tell her husband? However, she did and that brings the opportunity of introducing the therapist, Avery Chambers into the equation and we have to wait some time to find out exactly what all ten steps of her ‘fix’ are. Very cleverly written, this book has several very likeable characters and a few I wasn’t sure about! Secrets are hidden all the way through and when they come out, it’s all rather explosive. Absolutely gripping, this is such a thrilling read and one I’m very happy to recommend. The Golden Couple easily earns a full house of sparkling stars.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.
