Starting over never tasted so good

Holly Berry has it all; a good corporate career, a steady boyfriend, and enough savings that they will soon be able to buy a nice little house.

But when she finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her, she decides to retreat to the Cotswolds and a place full of far sweeter memories.

Quite literally.

However when Holly discovers the quaint village sweet shop that she worked in as a teenager is starting to crumble she decides that maybe the sensible life isn’t what she wants after all. Putting all her chocolate eggs in one basket, she says goodbye to the city, and sets her sights on Just One More.

After all, how hard can running a sweet shop be?

With charismatic Giles, ready to rescue her at every turn and the local bureaucrats breathing down her neck, it certainly isn’t the quiet life she expected.

Can Holly really save the place from the the wicked developers, or will she be the reason Just One More closes its doors for good?

Full of laughter, sweet clean romance and cozy village lifeThe Sweet Shop of Second Chances will make you believe that the best things in life really are worth fighting for.

While Holly Berry may have finally purchased Just One More and landed a date with one of Bourton-on-the-Water’s most eligible bachelors it is far from plain sailing.

A face from the past threatens to torpedo Holly’s fledgling relationship before it even gets going.

Will everything go according to plan? Or is Holly’s dream life at risk of turning sour?

Wonderful Characters & a Fabulous Story!

I’ve read this author’s work several times and I have to say I think this is one of her best yet!

Holly Berry has always wanted a secure future; she has the corporate job, a long term relationship and a healthy bank balance, thanks to their aim of saving a hefty deposit before buying a house. However when she discover her boyfriend in a compromising position with another, she ups and leaves London as fast as she can, heading for the more soothing Cotswolds. When she finds out that the village sweet shop is for sale, her plans change. She spent her teenage years working weekends and holidays in that same shop and can’t bear to see it sold to developers, so against all odds her plans change in one fell swoop and she takes over the shop with a view to buying. After all, how hard can it be? She soon makes friends – but are they all on her side?

I suspected from the very beginning that this would be an enjoyable read; after all, Holly Berry is such a happy name! This is such a lovely story, with plenty going on and filled with wonderful characters. All the best novels have a little bit of doubt thrown into the mix and this one has it’s ups and downs along the way. If you remember sweet shops before supermarkets took all the trade, then this will be a wonderful trip down the memory lane of colours, scents and flavours – all of which will put a smile on your face, as it did mine. I loved Holly Berry, and the best news is that this is only the beginning – there are another two novels to come, the first of which I have downloaded and added to my list for next month. Absolutely recommended and one I’m happy to give 4.5*.

My thanks to the author for my copy; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.

Author Details

I published my first novel, Amendments – a dark, dystopian speculative fiction novel, in 2015. Since then I have moved between genres, although the books I predominately write are romantic comedies and Greek mythology retellings. I also write urban fantasy under the pen name Ella Stone. While my stories are often very different I strive to deliver novels that are full of character driven narratives and vivid descriptions.
