Terrific!!
A worthy addition to this inspired series!
Donna Warren has worked hard to do all the right things for her family; as treasurer to the PTA she is the chairwoman’s right-hand woman and best friend. In a town like Forest River, these things matter. So when Jackie turns against her and stabs her in the back, it affects both Donna and her family while the other parents are quick to take sides. When she tries to fix things she ends up making them worse and just aa she is about to call it a day, revelations come to the fore. The question is, how will Donna handle things from here on in? Will she be revealed as the strong woman she thinks she is?
I have followed this series from the very start and been entertained and, at times, appalled, by the actions of the PTA and parents in general. Thank goodness my kids are grown up! Hilary Grossman has developed an amazing cast of character who, after three books, had gelled together and now, with the fourth, she has thrown a firework into the midst. Here in the UK, our PTA’s raise a token amount to support the kids at school but in Forest River they take it to the extreme but it does make for some very funny moments. This novel concentrates more on the pettiness of some women and, sadly, quite often reflects real life. The author hasn’t shied away from this and is to be applauded for doing so. A grand read and one I’m happy to recommend. 4.5*.
My thanks to the author for my copy; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.
