A Lifetime Ago by Jim Ody #BookReview #HudsonBell1 #QuestionMarkPress #4.5*

This is a tale about how the events of one day have such catastrophic consequences on the future.

Hudson Bell is a consultant for the police. A former DI, he spends his days helping to find missing children.

May and her son go on a road trip to celebrate his birthday; Robert and Nadia buy their dream house by the sea.

But as each look to enjoy a new life, none of them can shake off what happened on that fateful day. One of them blames the others and will stop at nothing to seek revenge.

One accident and five lives changed forever.

Book 2 – Come Back Home

Completely Bamboozling!

Now this is a true psychological fiction novel – it has had my brain in knots working it all out!

When an accident happens, it’s effects are like the ripples on a pond. This is a story about five people, all ripples. Hudson Bell, former Detective Inspector with superb investigative skills, now working as a police consultant; May and her son Blaine, heading on a road trip to celebrate his birthday and Nadia and Robert, making a fresh start in their new home in the country. Each of them affected by that day, and each trying and failing to overcome their own trauma.

Wow, this is some read! I don’t generally re-read the blurb before beginning a novel, so I really appreciated the names on the chapter title, otherwise I would have gone completely crazy reading this – for some time I was completely flummoxed! There is such a lot going on, and it’s certainly not easy to work out how it connects. Full marks to the author for clever writing using language and character names which will attract US readers without alienating too many Brits! The plot is full of twists and turns and certainly kept me glued to the pages until the very end. A superb creation, and I cannot wait to read more of Hudson Bell. An absolutely bamboozling read, fully earning five sparkling stars.

My thanks to author Jim Ody for adding me to his Review Group and providing me with a copy of this novel; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.
