Is Paris the city of happily ever afters?
Workaholic art historian Aurora Black doesn’t have time for fairy tales or Prince Charmings, even in the most romantic city in the world. She has recently been hired by a Parisian auction house for a job that could make or break her career. Unfortunately, daredevil journalist Cédric Castel seems intent on disrupting Aurora’s routine.
As Aurora and Cédric embark on a journey across France, they get more than they bargained for as they find themselves battling rogue antiques dealers and personal demons, not to mention a growing attraction to each other.
But with the help of a fairy godmother or two, could they both find their happily ever afters?
A Nice Straightforward Romance!
A really nice romance – with a bit of mystery thrown in! What’s not to like?
Doctor Aurora Black is following in her grandfather’s footsteps as a respected art historian. Having been sought out, she is hired to work for an auction house in Paris – the pinnacle of her career so far. Very focused on her work, Aurora find herself distracted by Cedric Castel, a journalist who seems to turn up everywhere she goes . . .
A well-written and enjoyable tale with a fairly predictable storyline, this is an easy read which I raced through. The mystery side involves a hint of menace, but no more than that. Aurora blossoms during her stint in the most romantic city of the world, and the people she meets along the way are all developed characters and entirely believable. A lovely read but perhaps just a bit too easy, if you know what I mean. No surprises in this one, it headed exactly where I thought it would from the very beginning .. a little twist or two along the way wouldn’t have gone amiss. Perhaps I’m just a bit jaded with straightforward romances? Hmm, perhaps. A good read for fans of the genre and one I’m happy to give three and a half stars.
