Finding the one is only the beginning…
1954. Zara is fifteen the first time she meets Leon. During a power cut in a small French museum, the two spend one short hour in the dark talking about their love for art, Monet and Paris. Neither knows what the other looks like. Both know their lives will never be the same.
1963. In Paris, Leon no longer believes he will ever find the girl he lost that night. After dreaming about him for years, Zara thinks she has already found him. When they meet at an exhibition, they don’t recognise each other – yet the way they feel is so familiar…
Over the course of twenty years, Zara and Leon are destined to fall in love again and again. But will they ever find a way to be together?
‘It’s about dreams and taking chances. Missed opportunities and mistakes. Loss and sacrifice. But above all, it is about love. The kind of love that survives time, distance… even death. The kind of love I wish for you.’
A magical new love story about star-crossed lovers, perfect for hopeless romantics and fans of One Day and The Notebook.
Exquisite!
Wow! This has made me think of all the epic love films which have touched me over the years: Brief Encounter, Mayerling and Love Story spring to mind . . . but this is more – so very much more.
Zara is just a young girl who adores art when she first meets Leon in a small French museum during a power cut; despite each having no idea of what the other looks like, they both sense a deep connection. Over the next decade neither forgets the other – but, with everything which happens will they ever come together again or are they destined to live on only in memories?
If this story doesn’t touch your soul, then I suspect you need a search party! It has taken me to the high peaks of hopes, to the depths of despair – and back again. I feel quite wrung out! An emotionally charged read – and completely unpredictable – it is an exceptional novel, and one of those that it’s really hard to put down in case the characters get up to something that you miss! Bursting with love, passion and doubt, I had no way of knowing how it was going to end and certainly have no intention of giving it away now. I’m in awe that any author could produce this beautiful, unforgettable romance as their debut. A stunning, exquisite, never-to-be-forgotten story which I fully expect to race to the top of the bestseller’s list! A full five wonderful, sparkling stars from me.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley and to Vicky Joss for my spot on this tour; this is – as always – my honest, original and unbiased review.
