Big Little Lies meets Class Mom
The meddling moms of Forest River live for a good scandal. Speculation surrounding Claire Conroy’s sex life has fueled the rumor mill for years.
Now, when Claire returns home from a trip to Italy separated from her husband of thirteen years, the imaginations of the Lululemon-clad ladies’ who lunch spin into overdrive. As the gossipmongers create their own scandalous backstory for the separation, blaming Claire’s infidelity, she learns the hard way just how mean mommies can be.
Eager to begin her new life as a single mom of three Claire puts her trust in Jackie Martin, the president of the PTA, to help tell her truth and free her of the false accusations and scandal. But the plan backfires, and Claire is put further into the spotlight when an embarrassed mom declares war.
As Claire dusts off her resume, fights the daily urge not to strangle her ex-husband and his new girlfriend, and dips her toes into the dating world one dud at a time will she find the happiness she craves or succumb to the pressure of the mean girls?
Original & Humorous!
Another deliciously enjoyable story from Forest River, reminiscent of how petty some adults can be!
Following on from the first novel in this series, Go On, Girl, this time round the story focuses on a different member of the Forest Rivers PTA. Claire Conroy has always been a committed mom to her three children; unlike their father who has other priorities. When the marriage ends in them splitting up, the rumour mill goes into overdrive and Claire has a really hard time of it. Trusting that her friends in the PTA have her back, Claire forges ahead with creating a new life for herself and her children, but she underestimates the determination of one other parent . . .
It’s fair to say I loved the first book, so when the author offered me an arc copy of this one I jumped at the chance to read and review it – and now I’m hoping she continues with this series so it covers all the other moms! Having been a single parent when my kids were young, I know how vicious the trouble-makers can be, and Hilary Grossman has her finger bang on the pulse! With warmth, fun and a tinge of sadness the story unfolds and I was rooting for Claire all the way through! A fabulous novel – every bit as entertaining as the first – and a worthy sequel. Appealing and true-to-life, this is an original and humorous read from a talented author, and one I’m very happy to give a full five stars.
My thanks to the author for my copy; this review is honest, original and unbiased – and freely given.
