Written by Victoria Connelly
They have the whole summer ahead of them. Is it enough to rekindle the friendship they once shared?
Harriet Greenleaf dreams of spending the summer in a beautiful ancient priory on the Somerset coast with her two best friends—but her dream is bittersweet. On the one hand, it’s a chance to reconnect three lives that have drifted apart; on the other, she has a devastating secret to share that will change everything between them forever.
First to arrive is Audrey—the workaholic who’s heading for a heart attack unless she slows down and makes time for herself. Then Lisa, the happy-go-lucky flirt who’s always struggled to commit to anyone—or anything. Ever the optimist, can Harriet remind them of the joy in their lives and the importance of celebrating good friendship before it’s gone?
Through the highs and lows of a long, glorious summer, these three women will rediscover what it means to be there for each other—before they face the hardest of goodbyes.
An Eloquent, Gorgeous Read!
This is one of those books that I won’t forget in a hurry having closed the last page not, as expected, with tears in my eyes but instead with a smile both on my face and in my heart.
Harriet – known as Harrie has two friends whom she has been very close to for over two decades. It has been a number of years since they had a holiday together and she sets out to rectify that by renting a beautiful renovated priory for several summer weeks. Little do the others know that Harrie is hiding a life-changing secret which will cast a shadow over all their lives . . .
Surprisingly, this is a really upbeat, uplifting read! These three women have a very special relationship, nurtured over the years to the point where they know everything about each other – or do they? This summer, the bones of their friendship are laid bare and it makes for an eloquent and deeply thoughtful read. The characters, whilst not flawless, are each beautifully rounded and come alive on the page; the writing is beautifully structured and so very easy to read. It’s the type of novel which touches a part of you that you weren’t really aware was there, and it’s a memorable read from an accomplished and talented author. Anyone who has read Victoria Connelly’s previous novels will love this one and to others for whom this is a new author, I would urge you to try this .. it’s a gorgeous read!
My thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources both for my copy of this novel and for including me in this Blog Tour. As always, this is my honest, original and unbiased review.
