How does a little girl survive an abusive mother, Catholic school, rape, and a near-death experience?

Raised by an abusive, narcissistic mother (who once tried to trick her into having an abortion), Julie Coons was also raped in college by a stranger and later married an abusive man who threatened to kill her if she ever tried to leave.

Suffering from physical and mental torment resulting in very low self-esteem, Julie often felt so completely alone during the many struggles of her life that she tried to take her own life.

This book is her true story—telling all the secrets she was never allowed to tell to encourage and motivate others to heal their own lives and break the cycle of abuse.

Her story shows that there is hope and life after abuse.

Now that the secrets are finally out, Julie has found freedom.

So can you.

This Does Not Leave This House is a raw, poignant, and secret-revealing memoir written to lead a movement to break the silence of abuse and finally end its vicious cycle. With strength and resiliency, Coons provides a voice for the silent abused, letting them know they’re not alone. Justice and hope can prevail. The abused can become victorious.

Read the heartbreaking true story of her journey to triumph above overwhelming obstacles.

Dawn and I have been online friends for a number of years after she became a member of one of my facebook groups. We have, in the past, run fb groups together. Occasionally, we read the same books but for the most part we favour very different genres.

When Julie contacted me regarding her novel, Dawn was the obvious choice to read and review it. We both hope you enjoy it!

A Truly Inspiring Read!   5 stars

This is a true story of the horrors of both physical and mental abuse Julie has suffered throughout her life.

From an early age she suffered at the hands of her mother, who would torment her verbally, never praise her in anything she did, putting her down and saying horrid things to her, yet still she craved her mother’s love.

Even at a Catholic school she had no escape from abuse, where she was continuously punished for the slightest things in ways no child should suffer. Life was to get no easier as she grew up. Not only was she raped in college but her mother tried to trick her in to an abortion. When she got married she found her husband would also abuse her. Most people would have given up on life, but not Julie.

It’s taken a lot for her to come out the other side of serious illnesses (which nearly cost her her life) and abuse but she feels it has resulted in her becoming a better person. After finally talking about what she went through, she hopes that those reading her book will be able to see that there really can be light at the end of a very dark tunnel. She truly is an inspirational lady and I wish her all the best in life.

Many thanks to Julie for letting me read her book which I have no hesitation in recommending, and it gets a full five stars from me.
