A Jamie Quinn Mystery .. book four
Finally, life is good for reluctant family law attorney, Jamie Quinn–her father may get his visa soon, her boyfriend is the bomb, and her law practice is growing like crazy–but when she agrees to take on a high-profile divorce case, everything falls apart. What looked like an opportunity to work with her friend Grace and make some serious bucks has turned into a deadly game, one that could destroy their friendship and tear their town apart. Why couldn’t Jamie just leave well enough alone?
A Well-Crafted Tale!
I love a good mystery, and I have a special fondness for female sleuths so I was more than happy to read this novel. Now I have, I wish I’d come to this series earlier!
Jamie Quinn is a divorce lawyer with her own one-woman practice. Her best friend Grace is a lawyer in a high-powered firm and Jamie’s latest case sees them getting the opportunity to work together. Her client is seeking a divorce from a high profile but unsavoury character and there are some distasteful things which come to light in their enquiries. Added to that, Jamie’s neighbours approach her about the death of the adoptive parents of their niece, who they now care for. There’s something not quite right about the deaths and Jamie enlists her favourite PI to help her investigate. But with both these cases, they get more than they bargained for.
This is such an easy read; never a dull moment and things move along at a scudding pace! It’s a well-crafted tale with interesting, rounded characters. A very enjoyable mystery with both serious and lighter moments, and one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to lovers of the genre. Best of all, all the questions which arise throughout are all neatly answered by the end – I do hate to be left hanging and thankfully it wasn’t a problem here.
My grateful thanks to author Barbara Venkataraman for my copy of her novel. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.
