Faking Friends by Jane Fallon

Best friend, soulmate, confidante . . . backstabber.

Amy thought she knew everything there was to know about her 31SMKtDa9KL._UX250_best friend Melissa. Then again, Amy also thought she was on the verge of the wedding of her dreams to her long-distance fiancé.

Until she pays a surprise trip home to London. Jack is out, but it’s clear another woman has been making herself at home in their flat.

There’s something about her stuff that feels oddly familiar . . . and then it hits Amy. The Other Woman is Melissa.

Amy has lost her home, her fiancé and her best friend in one disastrous weekend – but instead of falling apart, she’s determined to get her own back.

Piecing her life back together won’t be half as fun as dismantling theirs, after all.

Exciting, Unpredictable – and Such Fun! 5startr

Wow, this is a breathtaking tale of love, friendship and revenge and it’s written with such style!

Amy has lived with her fiance Josh for five years, although lately her work as an actress means she has been living in New York. On a flying visit for her best pal’s birthday weekend, she lets herself in to their flat to discover evidence of another woman in residence. Leaving it all she turns up later to find it all gone and Josh – strangely – his usual self. Leaning in for a hug from Mel – aka best pal – at the end of the birthday party she realises the scent pervading their home belongs to none other that her very best two-faced friend.
From here on in the heat cranks up considerably and it is very hard to put this book down! One after another, the groundwork is laid to get payback and we find ourselves voyeurs on every scene. It’s a bit like hiding behind a curtain as you watch a joke you’re a part of play out, but without being spotted – and it’s brilliant! Along the way, we learn about the back story to Amy and Mel’s friendship as well as keeping up with the revenge list playing out, and I could not read fast enough to find out what happens next. I can honestly say this is unique to any other novel I’ve read and I’m so glad I it was on my list!
Exciting, unpredictable and such fun to read this is one I’m very happy to recommend. Give yourself a break from all the serious and gritty murders and read this one .. it’s so worth it!
My thanks to Michael Joseph/Penguin Random House and NetGalley. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.
