Dawn Clifford, Kidderminster

After nearly knocking young Sophie over, Kal offers to take her home. When she wants to be dropped of at a red light district Kal’s worried and decides to go back to find her.
That’s when things start to hot up. Is Sophie as vulnerable as she first appears? Some of her friends are being murdered in a brutal way. Who’s responsible? Is Sophie at risk or behind them? Kal uses all her skills and does everything in her power to help her and find out what’s really going on, putting both herself and others at risk. I loved the way you get to find out the killers thoughts and why they think they are justified in killing.
This thriller certainly has plenty of action from start to finish, I have no hesitation in recommending it and it gets a full five stars from me
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Rushing to the hospital in a rainstorm, Kal nearly hits Sophie and, seeing how shaken she is, offers to take her home. Little does Kal know how troubled Sophie is and gets swept up in a mystery involving the young girl. From a house in the red light district to Sophie’s family home to an expensive mental health residence, Kal works to discover who is killing Sophie’s friends as an atonement for her father’s work with the Cartel.

I didn’t know this was the second book in the series. I wish I had read book 1 first to know the characters’ backgrounds but it isn’t necessary to enjoy this book.

Loved this book

Kat has a near miss in her car and takes the victim, Sophie, home which turns out to be in the red light district. This worries Kat who decides to keep an eye on her which leads to her becoming involved in mystery, danger and murders as Sophies’ friends are being killed off. To complicate matters Kat is mixed up with the London Cartel.
This book is very well written and gives you an insight into the killers mind and motives for their actions which adds up to a 5 star thriller which keeps you guessing to the end. A bonus for me was that I didn’t work out whodunnit!
I would definitiely recommend it.

I found this book gripping although I was a bit confused until I realised it was the second book in the series and I hadn’t read book 1″. Nevertheless I was soon drawn into the characters and needed to find out what happened. Sophie is very complex and has some major issues while being appealing at the same time. Kal feels drawn to her and this brings up her own issues which , to be fair I would have understood better if I had read the previous book. All in all a fascinating book with expertly drawn characters and interesting plot. Must read Book 1.

Rusella Edwards, Wrexham

Kal has decided she has got to help Sophie (a young girl). She met her by fate/chance. But Sophie has a lot happening, as slowly but surely, one by one her friends are falling foul to murder. But is Sophie really the victim here? But with herself descending down, Kal has to sort herself out, as if not she won’t be able to help save Sophie.
Kal is also in the middle of something dangerous herself. BUT … now, is it that there IS someone after Sophie? …. OR
IS it the opposite, and SHE is after someone????

Thank you for the opportunity to read this. It was a book that seemed to take no time at all to read, as it was a gripping read.

Theresa Hetherington, Gateshead

I had really enjoyed the 1st book in the series with Kal. I was happy to see a 2nd from Ann Girdharry and couldn’t wait to see what Kal would get up to this time. She helps out a young girl called Sophie who has a lot going on in her past & present life. This story leads us into what happens after she helps out & what builds between them. Kal is a complicated girl but likeable & straight forward. Hopefully there will be more books with her in & we can see how she grows & learns from herself.

My grateful thanks to these friends for reading and reviewing this novel, and also to author Ann Girdharry for generously providing arc copies to all.
